Glenpool is hoping to have better luck with the next round of winter weather than it had on Sunday.

The city had some truck issues.

With another storm predicted for Tuesday, crews have more than 25 tons of sand and 5 tons of salt; they’re just hoping they have a truck that can spread it.

“For the most part, we didn’t really care how long the drivers took, as long as they were safe the whole time,” said Stephanie Wolff, manager of Pizza Hut.

For Wolff, Super Bowl Sunday was one of the worst times for city streets to be treacherous.

“It is difficult, because it affects our management and our products and selling everything. But, we try to accommodate both and not really blame anybody for it,” she said.

The city of Glenpool has two salt and sand trucks with plows. A week of severe weather hit with one of those trucks in the shop.

“Still about a week away, waiting on parts that were on back order,” said Lynn Burrow, community development director for the city of Glenpool.

And after about four or five hours clearing roads Sunday, “Unfortunately, we had a mechanical failure on the only snow plow that we’ve got,” said Burrow.

That left the city with none.

Fortunately, most of the nine miles of arterial streets the city has to handle were clear enough for people to get around.

At Pizza Hut, most of the delivery drivers have trucks and weren’t going to let some snow slow them down on Super Bowl Sunday.

In fact, snow days are usually their favorite days.

“Drivers, they get minimum wage. And tip-wise, they get a lot of good tips when it snows. So, that’s why they love the snow so much,” said Wolff.

And as for the city, “We’re hopefully going to be ready,” said Burrow.

FOX23 learned Glenpool did get one of its trucks back from the shop late Monday afternoon that truck will start dropping sand as soon as the storm rolls in.
