Tulsa gas stations are lowering the price for gasoline and some drivers think a political agenda is part of the decrease.

“We figure in the next 12 days we have the election coming up so it dropped 30 cents,” said driver Sam Jardina.

“I am sure it has something to do with the election; it makes it a little easier on the pocket book,” said another driver Jonathon Hodge.

Drivers are remembering the price of gas dropping back in the 2008 presidential election too.  In June of 2008, the nationwide average was $4.11 then in November the average was $2.07.

QuikTrip spokesperson Mike Thornbrugh said in the last 20 years he has been with the company he has never seen the price drop this much this fast.

“In the last 30 days QT’s retail has dropped 65 cents,” said Thornbrugh.  “In my opinion, it is the most dramatic 30 day downward spiral that I have seen that had nothing to do with hurricanes etc., just pure wholesale costs just plummeting.”

Thornbrugh said everyone has their opinion on what is driving the price down but explained it is a low demand and high supply, plus the price of oil.
