Stephanie Spring, former Tulsa Public Schools Athletic Director, has been charged in federal court.
Spring is accused of violating federal law by misusing at least 5,000 dollars in district funds from TPS.
FOX23 got the criminal information sheet from the federal court clerk, the sheet reveals the allegations against Spring.
The investigation started in August of 2011 after the Athletic Department secretary, Cheryl Murphy claimed her personal emails were hacked. Then, on November 15th TPS Athletic Director Stephanie Spring and two assistant athletic directors, Jon Wheeler and Trish Pruitt, were suspended with pay. Pruitt was later reinstated but Wheeler and Spring resigned in January of 2012.
On January 15th, Spring was officially charged. According to the criminal information sheet the district had received $10,000 from the US Department of Education and Spring did “steal, misapply… without authority” use half of that for personal use. The sheet goes on to say Spring took money that was supposed to be used for the rental of certain school facilities, that money should have been deposited into the district’s general fund but instead went to her personal account.
A court date has not yet been set for Spring’s first court date.
