A former Oklahoma State University student charged with sexual battery is now out on bond.
Nathan Cochran, 22, is charged with three counts of sexual battery. Cochran was suspended from OSU for three years after the university’s Interfraternity Council told the school’s student conduct board that a member of Farmhouse Fraternity was accused of sexually assaulting younger members of that fraternity.
The first incident that resulted in charges happened more than a year ago in November of 2011. A 23-year-old man who said he was Cochran’s roommate told Stillwater Police Cochran fondled him and tried to forcibly have the alleged victim perform oral sex. Police say Cochran tried to engage in other sexual acts, but he stopped when the other guy was not responding.
That encounter led to two of the sexual battery charges filed against Cochran.
Another incident happened on August 15th of this year in a dorm room on the OSU campus. University police say Cochran started groping a young man over his clothes, and when the man woke up, he went to the bathroom and waited for Cochran to leave.
Cochran then sent the alleged victims a series of text messages according to court papers.
I just want (you) to talk to me... So you don't get the super-wrong impression. I have a girlfriend man who I'm proposing to soon.
Now I kinda just wanna kill myself.
I understand why you freaked out about me moving around and getting close to you. I just don't need rumors and things spread about me. I've worked too hard to get where I am for something like that to mess it up.
That incident resulted in the third and final sexual battery charge.
Tahlequah Police were informed earlier this year that an incident is alleged to have happened in their jurisdiction. They have said they will launch their investigation once Stillwater and OSU Police finish theirs.
