Taney County, Missouri - A Missouri Camp Director, trusted with taking care of kids, is now accused of sexual misconduct.
33-year-old Pete Newman is charged with 4 counts of sex crimes, involving kids under the age of 15. He's also charged with 2 counts of sexual misconduct, statuatory sodomy and enticement of a child.
Newman was a Director of K-Country, one of many Kamp Kanukuk camps. Thousands of kids from across the country, including several here in Tulsa, attend these camps.
Newman is accused of criminal sexual conduct with male campers at the camps in Branson over the past 10 years.
Investigators say Newman would hold sleepovers for the boys who attended camp and would play basketball and swim in the nude.
Police also say the former camp Director would have Bible studies in his hot tub, where some of the alleged sexual contact happened.
A spokesperson of the camp says Newman was fired in March, as soon as they learned about the allegations. The spokesperson says the allegations come as a shock to Kamp Kanakuk and totally counter everything the camp believes in and stands for.
Kamp Kanakuk has locations in both Branson and Lampe, Missouri.
Pete Newman pled not guilty. He has posted bail and is now out of jail. His next court appearance is October 29th.
