Holy Family Cathedral is doing away with communion, at least during the flu epidemic.
Bishop Slattery posted a statement on Facebook asking parishioners to suspend communion under the form of wine during the flu season. Slattery also encouraged churchgoers to greet each other with a peace sign instead of a hug to avoid spreading germs.
Holy Family Cathedral typically offers communion every day.
