Lyndsi Dooley is back at work, but she's not feeling great.

"I woke up probably like midnight-ish, feeling like I was dying. I had the cough, the migraine headaches, nothing was helping. (I was) sneezing, coughing, runny eyes and chest congestion. I couldn't keep anything down -- water, Gatorade, anything," Dooley said.

"The flu is not something to be taken lightly ever," said Nicole Schlaefli, epidemiologist for the Tulsa City/County Health Department.

We asked Schlaefli if the spike in flu cases is something to be worried about. She says it's on par with what happens every flu season.

Schlaefli also says the vaccine is a perfect match for the strains of flu that are going around in Tulsa, which include H1N1 and Influenza A.

I called several local doctors' offices today and found out their waiting rooms are packed full of people feeling crummy, just like Lyndsi. The flu has hit her whole family.

It started almost two weeks ago, with her sister, Ashley, who is nine months pregnant.

"She actually had it a week before the rest of us," Dooley said.

Then her stepdad got it. About five days later, Lyndsi woke up feeling horrible. Two days later the flu hit her mom, and now the flu has hit the final family member.

"My other sister, who is also pregnant, is starting to have symptoms today," said Dooley.

Schlaefli told us once you are fever-free for 24 hours, you are not contagious, and it's safe to go back to work. But, as Lyndsi has learned, it could be a while before you get your energy back.

"(I'm) tired. Really, really tired. I don't feel like I can keep going. I just keep telling them I'm going to retire at my desk for the rest of the day," said Dooley.
