Tulsa Health Department clinics are now offering seasonal flu vaccines.
This season's flu shot includes the pandemic 2009 H1N1, H3N2, and one other strain of flu expected to circulate. The season doesn't peak until January or February, but health officials recommend getting flu shots early.
Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone over 6 months of age. The following groups are most at risk: pregnant women, those with asthma, diabetes, or other chronic conditions, also family members of babies less than 6 months of age, and those who are 65 years and older.
If you visit a Tulsa Health Department clinic, it'll cost you $25 dollars. However, some are eligible for a free vaccine available to the following people:
-Children who qualify for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program
-Medicare Part B Non-HMO recipients
-Individuals whose household income is at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty guidelines
-Individuals with Community Care insurance plans
-HealthChoice insurance plans
Kaitlin Snider with the Tulsa Health Department said they have been getting quite a few calls from adults over the age of 65 asking about free flu shots, but Tulsa is not offering free flu shots for this age group. Some counties are offering free shots , but not Tulsa.
You can go walk-in to any of the following clinics in Tulsa Monday thru Friday:

-North Regional Health and Wellness Center
5635 N. Cincinnati Ave.
The clinic hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday thru Thursday and 8 am to 11 am on Fridays.
