TULSA, Okla. - Green Country couples are choosing non-traditional gifts for Valentine's Day.

For Lisa and Jim Butler, this Valentine's Day date was on point.

"Don't give me diamonds, give me guns," said Lisa.

They have plenty of reason to celebrate Feb. 14, because it's also their ninth wedding anniversary.

"This is our first time to go shooting on our anniversary," said Jim.

This year, the range is just where they want to be, and FOX23 found out it's not just this couple.

"We've had a lot more couples come in lately," said Geoff Portman.

Portman is the assistant manager at 2-A Shooting Center. He told FOX23 they've been busy this month.

"Instead of dinner and a movie, it's the range and dinner," said Portman.

Kim and Fred Caudle decided to try out a new tradition this year.

"Something just a little different than flowers and roses, said Fred.

"I love the action, just love it, it's exciting," said Kim.

Portman said looking at the numbers, gun sales as a whole are up, but people have been buying gift certificates and accessories for Valentine's Day.

Some of the most popular items or gifts that they sell in February are handguns.

"Gun sales have consistently gone up as well. There's no rhyme or reason," said Portman.
