In a place where there is so much devastation and heartache, FOX23’s Sharon Phillips found one woman who is using flower petals to bless the victims and their families.
Scherry Johnson is the owner of Broadway Florist in Moore. Her heart was broken on May 20th as the tornado shredded the town she loves so much.
“This is my community and I love all these people and I’m not one to get out and dig and so we thought, how do we help them,” said Johnson.
Then, it came to her. Why not use her flower shop as a blessing to the families who lost their loved ones in the tornado.
“All they have to do is let me know who and where and we will take care of the rest,” she said.
She said several of the families have already been by to see her.
And she’s not alone. Her staff is 100% behind the idea and so are her suppliers.
“Flower shops from all over the United States are calling us and saying what can I do and how can I help, and they’re donating money,” she said.
While countless others give back by donating items and cleaning up yards, Johnson is lovingly creating the casket pieces for those lost in the tornado.
“I hope it touches people and they know that we love them and care about them,” she said.
Local funeral homes are also giving their services to the families of the victims. FOX23 has learned John Ireland and Moore funeral homes have agreed to take care of the entire funeral costs of all the victims.
There was one funeral on Thursday and many more scheduled through Wednesday.
