Fireworks were fired at emergency responders in north Tulsa Thursday night.

On Friday morning, the remnants of fireworks that have been shot off littered Chamberlain Park, near 49th Street North and Martin Luther King, Boulevard.

“It was like a war zone,” neighbor Deborah Jones described the scene. “It was so smoky over here that you could barely see.”

Jones lives right down the street from Chamberlain Park and said when she returned home from the River Parks Fireworks show, there was smoke in the air.

“They were having some kind of fireworks war or something, and it set the Chamberlain roof on fire.”

Things escalated when firefighters arrived to tend to that roof fire.

FOX23 cameras caught the action as firefighters became target, there was smoke by the fire trucks.

Police told us the fireworks caused problems all night long, but Jones said even with officers around, the kids didn’t stop—putting themselves in danger and others.

Jones says, “I saw some of the kids were holding those roman candles in their hands, you know, those things can back fire. I’ve seen them backfire and burn people in the chest, burn them in the face.”

FOX23 found out it was a firefighter who was hit by sparks near the face, fortunately he only has minor injuries.

Our crews were in the park as police tried to control the crowds, but many people took off running, while others took pictures.

FOX23 News checked in with police departments in and around the Tulsa Metro area and found most say they also dealt with lots of firework calls.

But no department reported problems as serious as the ones Tulsa police and firefighters dealt with.

Like I said before #8 ^]] Parks in Norf Tussa be fertile breeding grounds fo gang related activities. If that jerky mule Henderson wants parks out in Norf Tussa build them on your own muny staph dem wit guards and pay it outta yer own pocket. Other than that leave the city of Tulsa out of your egregious needs to congregate and violate the law. Find them punks and put their mommie and daddy in jail for raising a law breaking crop of junk.

This is a bad deal. FireFighters and police under attack while trying to help. But, really FOX? You didn't have enough video so you used last year's footage? Really??? This is called OLDS, not NEWS. Perhaps you should start a new segment "FOX OLDS, TODAY". We need a new leadership for Tulsa, a Mayor all people, North, South, East, and West Tulsa can feel will represent their needs-not just south and midtown. VOTE KATHY TAYOR- She will address our crime and juvenile issues!

People are not held accountable for their actions. People do stuff like this because they know they can. Now it will escalate every year! It is against the law to shoot off fireworks in Tulsa and it goes on everywhere. Why have laws if they aren't going to be enforced!!?!?!?!
