Catoosa, OK- It's not quite shoulder to shoulder at Jake's Fireworks in Catoosa.
"I don't think there's been the intensity of people in here," said Kathy Tyree, manager, who says quality over quantity matters and people are still willing, economy and all, to stock up on fireworks. "I see people that I'm thinking, how can they afford them and they could be the ones spending $300-$500 at the cash registers."
Forrest works the registers every year at Jake's and he's seen the big spenders for himself.
The most he's seen one person spend on fireworks-
"A little over 4,000," he said.
Dustin Armstrong's got two shopping carts full of everything from sparklers, to excaliburs.
How many dollars will he drop today?
"I don't know. I have no clue."
Connie Adams brought her two kids here with her.
She says the family usually spends close to $300.
"That's nothing compared to our neighbors, who spend about $1,500.
Leaving Kathy to be pretty sure Jake's will come out on top- even in a down economy.
"We'll be over last years sales. I do feel confident. So, I don't feel the economy's played a part"
