A fire turned deadly overnight Saturday. It happened near East Admiral and Highway 69.
A teen got firefighter's attention, but for one person, not in time. The commotion awakened neighbors. It ended with them losing one of their own.
"I heard someone screaming 'help, help!'"
This teen says she dialed 911.
That person crying out for help was banging on her window.
"My neighbor's house was on fire."
Fire crews arrived in time to salvage most of this east Tulsa house, and rescue two others. A third person, the homeowner, was still inside and did not survive. TFD identified him as Edwin E. Thorton.
"I think his arm was the one burned."
The man who got her attention along with the other survivor suffered burns.
Neighbors told FOX23, until recently there were no utilities in this house.
One neighbor admitted to running water to the home through a hose in his backyard.
