Tulsa Fire Department officials say an elementary school that burned down on September 5th did not have sprinklers.
Officials say Barnard Elementary did not have sprinklers in the building. While there are codes for educational facilities now, at the time Barnard was last renovated sprinklers were not required.
Fire destroyed the Barnard building, which was the home of the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences, on September 5th. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Eight firefighters were injured fighting the fire, three of the firefighters were burned, one firefighter was released from the hospital on Sunday.
TSAS students are now taking classes at the old Sequoyah Elementary building.
