Mayor Bartlett, Tulsa City Council and the Tulsa Fire Department taking part in “Fill the Firehouse City Food Drive.”
The drive, which starts on Wednesday, will benefit residents of eastern Oklahoma who are struggling with hunger this holiday season. The George Kaiser Family Foundation will offer a matching grant for monetary donations to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. The drive will run through Thursday, Dec. 20.
All 30 fire stations in Tulsa will serve as donation sites for non-perishable food items. Items most in need include peanut butter, soups, stews, sauces, cereal, rice, pasta and canned meats. In conjunction with the US Marine Corp. Toys for Tots Program, Tulsans can also bring an unopened new toy along with their non-perishable food items.
