Facebook furor after pit bull's death

A Cherokee County teen is receiving death threats after a picture of a dead pit bull posted to Facebook.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating a Facebook picture allegedly posted by Caisen Green showing a dog wounded by a bow and arrow.

Undersheriff Jason Chennault says Green and his family have received numerous death threats, which are also being investigated.

Numerous alerts about Green’s Facebook post have been sent to the FOX23 newsroom.

Green’s page has been taken down but a screen grab of the post states, “For all you pit bull lovers out there. Here’s what happens when one shows up around my house.” The picture shows a wounded a pit bull with a red arrow protruding from the dog’s body.

In a news release, the undersheriff said he's received calls and e-mails about the incident from around the world.

FOX23 News found the “Caisen Green of Cherokee County OK Shoots dog w/arrow 02/15/2013” Facebook page. Several death threats have been posted on that page and the sheriff says those threats are being investigated.

“The concern over the fatal shooting of the animal is understood, but please refrain from making any threats against Green or the Green family. Those threats will also be investigated and the people making the threats may be subject to prosecution,” said Chennault.

Investigators said they are gathering more information but have not been able to interview Green.

"Contact has been made with Green's family, although Green is currently unavailable to be interviewed about the incident. This matter will be fully investigated and a prosecution report will be forwarded to the District Attorney when the investigation is complete," said Chennault.

Once the investigation is complete it will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.

Green’s Facebook page is no longer active.

Oh my goodness, no wonder this country is going down the drain. Look at all the negative, ignorant hateful and uneducated comments on this story. Firstly, pits are not by nature agreesive nor vicious (please,do your research and educate yourselves before you spew such nonsense.) Any breed of dog can be trained to act in such a manner, ANY. I've raised/trained dogs my entire life and the only dogs that have attacked me and bit me (breaking the skin) were small breeds. In fact, three poodles attacked my Mastiff pretty badly and all my dog did was stand there (they have attacked me as well). I have been around many pits and have yet to meet an aggressive one. This is simply a silly stereotype that has been further propelled due to animal abuse and idiots. Please do your research on animal attacks. I feel sorry for some of you for the way your brains think, it really must suck to go through life so stupid and ignorant. There is no need to bash pit pulls. Plenty of non pit breeds are viscous and aggressive as well. It depends on the owner and how they were raised. More importantly the young man that killed the dog did not do so in a normal manner. He bragged about it, made the dog suffer and posted in on facebook. This is not a sane individual nor is it normal behavior. Use logic please.

@alema... GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.. pit bulls got their names from killing rats in a pit. never from fighting. that jusrt what dumb people turned them into. look it up, then come back. k?

you are all complete idiots if you think opits should be put down, any type of dogs can kill you, a weenie dog can get a disease thAT GETS spred to you.. i have 2 pits, sweetest dogs ive ever had, and i know im safe.. my co worker and cousin also have them, they are big babies.. before you talk crap on how bad they are, why dont you come to my home town and see how ours are raised!! til then, shut your mouths. thanks(:

On top of what I just wrote, I think it's both disgusting and revealing how the PIT FANS are talking about cruelty to this poor, poor pit bull -- while they don't care one bit about all the animals pit bulls are ripping apart alive every day (they only rip a human apart about every 12 days this year so far). When a pit bull has done this cruel act (ever heard the screams of an animal or child a pit bull was attacking? I have), the PIT FANS gather to save the poor, poor pittie-poo that 'innocently' slowly shredded another living being to death. I believe this incident went viral because so many people are sick to death of having to fear for their lives, their children's lives, their normal pets' lives all the time with this roaming pit bull plague, and enjoyed the idea of one being killed itself before it could kill something truly innocent. It's definitely not because that many people feel the least affection for pit bulls. If you don't want your pit bull shot, poisoned, strangled, or otherwise killed, then don't let it roam. If you let it roam, then don't complain when people take care of it.

Our authorities are letting us down by not banning ALL pit bull type dogs, even thought these are so often roaming and killing everything from our children to our horses, sheep, normal dogs, cats, you name it pit bull type dogs are killing it. A lot of people are nowadays killing pit bulls they find roaming, especially if they feel threatened by the pit bull type dog. This boy did nothing new, and it was justified. When a pit bull type dog is in your yard or approaches you on the street, you had better assume there is immanent threat to your life -- or you may lose your life. If you wait until it attacks, that's too late. Instead of being so angry at this boy, who did the right thing, the pit fans should be furious at the owner of the now dead pit bull. They should be saying 'how dare you let your pit bull roam!' and such things. That pit fans use death threats is nothing new. Usually they use them against people whose child has been mauled or killed by a pit bull for telling their story. They are a weird bunch, these pit fans.

Yes a pitbull was the dog on Spanky and Flipper was a Great White Shark,you illiterate inbreds...the dogs were bull terriers not pitbull terriers big difference

why does this have to go to a breed spacific debate? It should be all about was the kid in danger? if not, did he break the law? every state has animal abuse laws that they don't enforce well enough for the abusers or for the victims. If the law would crack down on the people fighting pit bulls there wouldn't be the attacks out there that there are right now. It seems like if you have enough money you can get away with it just like that idiot football player M. Vick. That's what we all need to be hollering about no matter what side you're on. the law should be cracking down on the animal abuse cases because that IS where the phsyco's practice first, before graduating to humans. I personally own 5 pit bulls that love children, other animals & I also have labs, german shepards & they all get along just fine they don't fight out of instinct. I've owned enough AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE "PITBULL" TERRIORS to know that they would rather sit on your couch, your bed, & your lap than to fight another dog. and to correct another thing i read on here pits were ACTUALLY bread to defend the matadore in a bull pit & that my friends is where the name came from. that was there original JOB!!!!! not in mexico in america. but again start hollering about the LAW "ENFORCMENT" AGENCIES not enforcing the laws that are in place, & demand that they start taking the animal abuse laws more seriously not to mention those of you who know of the dog fighting rings & animal abuse that goes with it & just sit back & do nothing to stop it. If you know of a dog fighting ring REPORT it again & again & again till it is taken care of. Instead of sitting on the internet arguing about what breed is better than another. HELLO PEOPLE
