The Red Cross is hosting a salute to veterans blood drive.
FOX23, KRMG teamed up with the American Red Cross to commemorate Independence Day with the Summer Salute to Veterans Blood Drive on July 1 and 2.
Congressman Jim Bridenstine, an aviator in the Navy Reserves, is honorary chairman of the two-day event.
“I’m happy to be helping the Red Cross raise awareness for the need for blood going into the July 4 holiday,” said Congressman Bridenstine. “Giving blood can be a great way to honor honoring service men and women while helping the community.”
All attendees at the Summer Salute to Veterans Blood Drive can register to win their choice of a pair of tickets to see the Eagles or Justin Timberlake in concert at the BOK Center, courtesy of KRMG’s Take Action Campaign.
Everyone coming to donate can also register to win one of four American flags flown over the United States Capitol on Flag Day. And, to support summer holiday donations, all donors who present to between July 1 and July 15 will also be entered for a chance to win a $3000 American Express gift card.
“Ensuring blood is on hospital shelves for those in need is our mission, but we can’t fulfill that mission alone,” said Steve Nagle, CEO, Southwest Blood Services Region. “Thank you Congressman Bridenstine and everyone who is helping the Red Cross prepare our community’s blood supply for the long holiday weekend.”
Donors of all blood types – especially O negative, A negative and B negative – are urged to schedule an appointment to donate blood now to help avert a summer shortage.
