The FBI warns about the birth of a new violent trend online.
Desperate women who want a baby are using social media websites to target expectant mothers and then steal their baby after it’s born.
“Trust is a big issue, it sucks that you cant be all open on Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter,” said mother, Kim Perry, who is expecting her third child in a few months.
She heard about these real life “Lifetime” movie horror stories and she does all she can to protect herself and her baby. She even told her friend of ten years, Heather Jones, about the FBI warning. Jones is also expecting in the next few months. They both will have boys.
“Every time we get new ultra sound, we want to post them,” said Perry and Jones.
The pair has all their privacy settings set so that only friends can see their pictures, but Perry knows that is not always enough.
“I have a pictures of my ultrasound as my cover photo, but you can't hide that, so like what's the point of having it now?” said Perry.
“It's like what ever you post you have to be OCD about it.”
Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley encourages all expectant mothers to be aware of those you did not meet before you were pregnant.
“We are always proud when we are good and ready to bring life into the world,” said Officer Ashley. “We are always excited about that but you have to really think about what you are going to post. If you are going to post your due date, what hospital you'll be at, adjust your privacy settings.”
