A
n officer of the law admits to breaking it. He told Tulsa County authorities he repeatedly molested a young girl. He was once the police chief in the Osage County town of Wynona. Fox 23’s Douglas Clark has details. His name is Timothy Boyer. For three months, he was the police chief in Wynona, before resigning at the end of June. He’s now facing charges of rape by instrumentation and lewd molestation of a child under 16. But that’s not the only thing we uncovered. “I was shocked. Really shocked,” says current Wynona Police Chief Sam Weygand, as he reacts to the news about his former boss. Weygand worked under Boyer for the last two months, and says Boyer was structured and organized, but never spoke about his private life. “It makes you look at people in a different way now,” says Weygand. “He seemed friendly. He seemed really nice,” says store clerk Muresia Domer.
Those who worked in the corner store didn’t know Boyer well, but say he seemed friendly, despite being an unpopular police chief.
“They didn’t care for him. Mostly because he tried to come in and change the town. There are people here who are old and set in their ways,” says Domer.
Before working in Wynona, the police chief says Boyer worked at two other police departments in Oklahoma. Fox 23 also discovered Boyer is a registered nurse. Fox 23’s is told Boyer worked as needed at the Cleveland Area Hospital. His nursing license is still active. But right now, there is no indication there were other victims.
In his confession, Boyer admitted to molesting a young girl more than 100 times over the last eight years, doing “everything but having intercourse” with her. The abuse started when the girl was eight years old. She's now 16. When contacted by authorities, she confirmed the abuse had, in fact, been going on. Chief Weygand saw the two together. “He really cared. He was really protective of her,” he says. Boyer is in the Tulsa County Jail on $200,000 bond. Official charges will be filed Tulsa County because Boyer moved back to Sand Springs after resigning from the Wynona Police Department.
