FOX23 has confirmed with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office that two escaped inmates have been found in Mayes County.

Authorities found 22-year-old Anthony Anderson and 51-year-old Pete Wolfe around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday walking along Highway 82 north of Salina.

Dispatchers told FOX23 the inmates escaped from the Delaware County Jail in Jay around 1:45 a.m.

Anderson was in jail on second-degree rape charges and Wolfe is serving time for armed robbery.

Delaware County Sheriff Harlan Moore said he believes the inmates pried off a piece of metal and used it to shatter the windows at the jail.

"Other inmates or inmates from inside the jail alerted the staff, making a lot of noise. One of the staff members went inside the male pod and was told that something had happened in Cell No. 2," said Woods.

Residents in the neighborhood told FOX23 this caused some panic for the small town.

"They found this stuff four houses down from my house and it was very scary for me," said Earl McCurey.

Residents wondered why this happened.

"I want to know how they broke the window and got out so easily," said Mike Addison

"It needs to be upgraded so that this cannot happen again in the future," said McCurey.

Broke a window to escape? Real high security facility. Fuglyothermuckers. If you find them before they freeze to death they'll be lucky.
