Wagoner police teamed up with local law enforcement agencies and state agencies like the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and the U.S. Marshals to arrest eight people on drug charges.
Officer Jamie Powell with the Wagoner Police Department said he has been building this case for the last few weeks. It started with a traffic stop.
"A woman ran a stop sign so I pulled her over and she was chewing crack cocaine," said Powell.
Reports started to be collected that included neighbors calling the police about drug complaints in their neighborhood. The drug bust happened over the weekend on Hwy. 51 and South Taylor in the government Section 8 housing.
"This was a big deal because we wanted to execute all the search warrants at the same time," said Powell.
Wagoner County Sheriff's Office, OHP, District 27 Drug Task Force, ATF, U.S. Marshals, SWAT teams from Cherokee Nation and Tahlequah, Sequoyah County Drug Task Force, and other agencies teamed together to make the arrests.
They found these six people plus two more who were not identified yet to FOX23 News:
39-year-old William Jackson, 31-year-old Jamisha Current, 31-year-old Alhmad Pettit, 22-year-old Dontreon Wells, 19-year-old Latesha Evitt, and 42-year-old Anthony Holmes.
All of them will face drug charges and two more will face firearms charges.
Wagoner police believe this is only the beginning and more arrests will be made in the future in this case.
