EMTs and paramedics with EMSA eastern division will be stationed at Sutherland’s, 15050 South Memorial Drive, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 8 to collect new hats, underwear, gloves and socks for donation to adults, teens and children in need this winter.
“As a paramedic we know the toll extreme temperatures can take on the body, and want to do what we can to help keep everyone warm this winter especially those without consistent, comfortable housing,” said Joshua Choate, one of the EMSA EMTs organizing the drive.
The drive is one of several scheduled over the last few weeks at various locations throughout the EMSA service area to provide every opportunity for the community to participate if they would like. The Bixby collection date is the last donation event.
The medics are requesting the items in all sizes that can be distributed to local shelters, day centers and nursing homes.
The H.U.G.S. drive is part of EMSA’s ongoing commitment to the community to increase awareness and support for health and safety issues affecting the region.
