Drumright, area fire departments need donations

Drumright City Manager, Danny Cooper, says rural fire districts are in desperate need of help after fighting recent wildfires in Creek County.

“We’ve lost over 100 homes in Creek County. These are people who have lost everything. And, over 100,000 acres have burned. That puts a strain on all of the area towns and fire department’s resources for water, shelter, clothing and firefighting equipment.”

Cooper says Drumright and surrounding rural communities have already used 70 to 80% of their resources and the fire season is only partially over. Cooper said volunteer firefighters from Blackburn assisted Drumright firefighters in recent wildfires, and both of their fire trucks broke down when the crews tried to go back to Blackburn.

Cooper says those departments are in dire need of cash donations, firefighting equipment and trucks. A Victim’s Relief Fund has been set up at SpiritBank and donations can be made at any SpiritBank location.
