Troopers said high speeds are to blame for sending a Tulsa teenager to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident in Wagoner County early Saturday morning.

The accident occurred on 71st Street, just 3 miles east of Broken Arrow.

Officials said Cole R. Powell, 19, was driving at a high rate of speed when his 1994 Honda went off the right side of the road, overturned one and a half times and came to rest on its roof, back on the road.

Powell was ejected from the vehicle, troopers said.

Powell was taken to a Tulsa area hospital in stable condition with multiple injuries, troopers said.

Troopers said seat belts were not in use.
