Close to a dozen flights were canceled this morning out of Tulsa International Airport and officials told FOX23 that the foggy weather is to blame.

Airlines canceled eight flights leaving Tulsa and two arriving early this morning.

Four flights leaving for Texas were on that list and two Chicago flights.

Three American Airlines flights from Tulsa to Dallas/Ft. Worth were cancelled. Also, some Southwest and United flights were cancelled.

Officials with the airport say heavy fog from last nigh into this morning caused the delays and cancellations that you see on your screen.

They say planes were unable to land and that led to nearly a dozen flights being cancelled.

FOX23 spoke with a man who said he received a call from American Airlines informing him that his flight was cancelled.

The passenger said they originally told him he would not be able fly out of Tulsa to Dallas at all today.

According to airport officials they expect the fog to clear, and as long as that happens and we don't get freezing rain, those cancelled flights should begin departing again.
