There's a dog feud brewing in Broken Arrow.

A woman says someone who's mad at her family stole her dog, and she can't get him back. FOX23's Janna Clark has the story.

Melody Dunnery says she let her 2 dogs outside to use the bathroom. And someone stole one of her dogs right out of her yard. Melody says she won't stop until she gets her dog back.

Melody Dunnery keeps a packet with her all the time.

It's all the information about her missing chocolate lab, Bailey.

Melody says someone stole him out her yard. Her other dog Gracie got away.

But Bailey had just had surgery and could barely walk.

"He's part of our family it's extremely emotional for me, I'm just frustrated," Dunnery said.

Bailey's been gone three years now, but Melody says she knows where he is and who took him.

She says her son's friends got mad at him.

"They vandalized us and robbed us," Dunnery said.

Then she says they stole Bailey.

"They blatantly admitted it to us," Dunnery said.

So she went to their house to see for herself.

"My first trip to the neighborhood, there he was," Dunnery said.

But she couldn't take Bailey without trespassing.

"I came face to face with him, but I couldn't get him because he was tied up," she said.

Melody did call Broken Arrow police and filed a report.

Police tell FOX they've been to the home several times to look for the dog but haven't seen him, so legally they can't do anything.

So Melody hired a pet detective.

She says the detective had a scent dog, and the scent dog took the detective to the people she suspect's property.

Melody says she doesn't want to cause trouble. She just wants her dog back.

"It has consumed my life for the last three years, it's very hard. I know he's just a dog but to me he's my baby," she said.

FOX23's Janna Clark and a FOX 23 photojournalist did go to the home where Melody says Bailey is.

The news crew wanted to get the other side of the story.

But no one was home, and the crew didn't see the dog.

If you know where Bailey is, call the FOX23 News desk.

The number is (918) 388-5353.

Why are so many people stealing dogs? What are they doing with them? People are so cruel. How do you even find a pet detective? Noahsark

I live in the neighborhood in question and even noted the news van. (Every new car is noted in this neighborhood) The simple reason the BA police don't help is they're both scared and 'involved'. Many times the BA police have alerted certain types of neighborhood citizens that eyes were on the way. Look up the trailer raid in the past that yielded nothing, the weapons calls that mysteriously were averted, etc… The same trailer the scent dog tracked to nonetheless. We all know the story of which the shortened version is lots of activity here that is overlooked by BA police including animal theft and sale, slinging and possession. This would be the perfect start to a cleanup that many residents are hoping for. If not BA get Wagoner county out here to tear that place apart. They'll find more than what they're looking for guaranteed.

the 22 yr olds that stole the chocolate lab in Missouri took him back to their home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and since the cops are so NOT helpful, the owner cannot get her dog returned.

Hey, are there two Melody Dunnerys with missing chocolate labs named Bailey? A google search brought up a Missouri dog with similar details. Or was the Broken Arrow dog stolen from the Missouri home and the pet detective tracked it to B.Arrow? Something not right about this story... << Our dog, Bailey, has been missing since 4/11/05 at 5:15AM-6:15AM, from our Parkville, MO, home - Walnut Creek Addition (between 45 Hwy & FF Hwy). He is a chocolate male labrador retriever (very dark chocolate), 11 months old, 80 pounds, neutered. NAME - Bailey His right hip and leg were shaven for a recent surgery in March. Even though the hair has started to grow back, it is still very noticeable. PLEASE call if FOUND. Melody Dunnery _______or ______ OR Barry Road Animal Hospital 816-436-6700 posted May 2 2005 >>
