" I was laying there afterwards with my head on the ground. My breathing had stopped my heart had stopped, and I was purple, they said, so I was dead," Gary Buscombe said.
A couple of Boy Scout fathers and an automatic defibrillator saved Gary's life.
" I'm very grateful for everyone jumping in there and being prepared, that's the Scout motto: be prepared, and they sure were," Gary said.
Now, Gary and his wife are buying two defibrillators to donate to non profit organizations. So if something like what happened to Gary happens to someone else, other groups will be prepared. He is also learning CPR and how to properly use his life-saving machine.
"That's my way of giving back to the community because I would like to think that sometime down the road, someone's life will be saved because of it," Gary said.
The two gentlemen that Gary credits for saving his life are an emergency room doctor and a dad who'd had CPR training.
