Crime victims and survivors will be honored with a Day of Remembrance and flower planting at LaFortune Park.

The event is scheduled for April 23rd at Buddy LaFortune Community Center, 5202 S. Hudson Ave. in Tulsa’s LaFortune Park.

“This annual ceremony pays tribute to the victims, offers support to their survivors and expresses the collective sorrow of our community for the loss of each person as a result of violent crime,” said District Attorney Tim Harris. “It is important that we remember the victims, and tell their stories after the headlines fade,” Harris said.

Family and friends gather to plant a flower in memory of lost loved ones and view a photo tribute.

The flowers are donated by Ted & Debbie Wilson of Ted and Debbies’s Flowers in memory of their son, Jameson Matthew Wilson, a victim of violent crime.

The ceremony is held during the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
