Tulsa police are searching for a man who robbed a midtown gas station, and kept apologizing while he was doing it.

This is definitely out of the ordinary. We don't normally have armed robbers go into stores and then apologize for what they're doing,” Jillian Roberson of the Tulsa Police Department said.

It happened around
3:30 Wednesday morning at the Phillips 66 near 31st & Yale.

Police say he came in with a gun, tied up one clerk, and made the other empty a safe. The whole time he kept saying he was sorry, and that he had to have the money to feed his family. He was wearing camo and a black hood.

Police say the fact that the criminal was apologizing does not minimize the severity of the crime.

We still have victims who are involved and an individual who had a gun put in their face and an individual who demanded money from them. That's very scary,” Roberson said.

He took off in a truck, but employees weren't able get a good description of it.

If you have any information on this crime call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
