A couple of inches of snows is expected on Christmas in parts of Green Country.
As last minute travelers hit the road, first responders are gearing up for the worst.
"We go fuel up right before the storm hits," said Capt. Stan May.
May said firefighters across Tulsa have already sifted through EMS gear, to make sure everything is in tact. Should they get a call to venture out on slick roads, May said there's a plan to make sure they're safe too.
"They don't use chains anymore, they use cables," said May.
That will keep these trucks from sliding.
Typically, May said downtown areas are their biggest concern, but this time of year the focus shifts to residential areas.
"The outlying areas of town are probably going to be the busiest," said May. "Everybody is going to be home or traveling."
TPD has geared up for the season too. Multiple departments have new four wheel drive Chevy Tahoes, and Ford Explorers.
EMSA is also advising you to call your doctor or pharmacy, and make sure you have at least three days worth of any medications you may need.
Also, make sure you have plenty of food and water set aside. EMSA also suggests checking on elderly neighbors to ensure they have everything in tact.
