FOX23 has been closely following the story of Coweta teen Morgan Mitchell.

She just announced Thursday that she is battling cancer for the fifth time.

As people in Coweta celebrate the annual fall festival, friends and family members of Morgan Mitchell are quietly grieving her most recent diagnosis.

On Saturday, FOX23 talked with Mitchell as she helped plan the "All 4 One 5K" to raise money for Families Fighting Childhood Cancer.

"To know that people have your back 100 percent and are there for you no matter what, when you need them the most, is a big deal," says Morgan.

At that time, she was cancer-free and in the maintenance stage of her treatment. She said organizing the run was to show support for other cancer victims.

Her former teacher, Trish Waller couldn't believe it when she heard the news that Morgan's Cancer was back.

"I was just sick, physically sick to think that someone who is so positive and such an inspiration and so positive in this community has to go through something like this again," says Waller.

Despite the grim news, Trish says Morgan is just as upbeat as she always is.

"Her comment was, "I know my family is going to meet with the doctor tomorrow and we're going to set up a plan," says Waller.

Trying to stay positive like Morgan, Trish and others continue to promote the All 4 One 5K run.

"She wanted to help other people and their families who are fighting Cancer and it was her desire to give back to others who have helped her," says Waller.

Trish says Morgan does plan to be in Coweta on Saturday for the run, and she will be relying on her strong faith in God to beat Cancer for the fifth time.

While Morgan and her family meet with doctors about her next course of action, friends like Amy Bell and others are back in Coweta working to get people signed up for the run.

"It's going to families fighting childhood Cancer and we are also going to give a portion to the Morgan Mitchell family to help them with medical bills," says Bell.

If you would like to sign up, you still can. You can register from 9-4 on Friday at the Coweta Chamber of Commerce. You can also register online at
