It's been nearly a week since some Green Country students have been at school because of snow days.

On Wednesday, FOX23 found some kids in unusual places to pass the time.

"She's our best employee in fact today," said Coweta Mayor Robert Morton.

Snow stopped school and families are doing what they can to get by on snow day number 5.

"I've been doing stuff with grandpa," said 3-year-old Hayley.

FOX23 found the city's mayor babysitting his granddaughter.

"I would be very upset if something happened to my child on a bus route," he said.

Hayley's pre-K is closed just like all Coweta schools. But Morton said he has no problem spending more time with his granddaughter.

FOX23 found main roads mostly dry, but Morton said those aren't the roads shutting school doors.

"The roads out in the country right now, it's probably the best thing that they can do," he said.

He said he knows icy roads could cause big problems.

"You know, get a busload of kids off in a ditch," he said.

With ice melting, Morton is ready to be in charge at his shop again, "I'm hoping tomorrow. I think many, many mothers and dads are hoping tomorrow."
