A construction worker hit by a truck while walking in a construction zone on Sunday night is recovering.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. on the Creek Turnpike near Yale.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said 18-year-old Coleton Edwards was working in that area when a truck backed into him. Edwards was taken to the hospital with head and back injuries.

The airbags in the truck did not come out and the driver walked away without any injuries. Construction has been underway for more than a year and FOX23 has learned it should wrap up in November or December.

Coleton actually works for the Construction company on that job and was sopposed to be at the site. He wasn't just walking down a closed area.

He actually works for the construction company and his job was on that construction zone. He wasn't just walking down a closed to public road.
