Concerned neighbors worry over vandalism at vacant homes in Turley

Some concerned residents in Turley said that there is a growing problem with people vandalizing vacant homes and structures in the community.

Boarded-up windows on some of the area structures typically mean that there isn't anyone inside to keep others out of the homes. Marianna Lish told FOX23 that she has witnessed trespassing and vandalism at vacant homes and property in the area.

"There were some juveniles in this house that were deliberately vandalizing the property," said Lish.

She told FOX23 that the most concerning instance has been when she has seen people inside of a burned-down home which poses a safety threat.

"I've had to stop a number of kids and say, not only do they not belong there but there is a certain amount of safety that you are risking when you are going into a house where the roof is caving in."

Lish said that she cares about her community and contacts police when she can, but she wants the community to report the behavior if they witness it.

"If you see something suspicious then call it in to police," said Lish.
