OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn will hold a series of town hall meetings across Oklahoma beginning next week.

A fierce critic of what he describes as wasteful government spending, the Muskogee Republican has been issuing a series of letters to federal agency heads urging them to consider cutting various programs.

Coburn says he plans to take questions at the town hall meetings and update Oklahomans on his legislative efforts in the Senate.

Coburn will begin the series on Monday with meetings in Ada, Ardmore and Duncan. Tuesday's meetings will be in Lawton, Altus, Elk City, and El Reno. He plans to wrap up the series on Wednesday with meetings in Guthrie, Norman and Oklahoma City.
