Strong winds whipped through Inola last night and knocked over railroad cars, the storm also destroyed barns and homes.
Sara Eagleton was the only one awake inside of her family's home when the wind started howling on Wednesday night.
“I was watching TV and heard the sirens and knew that it was time to wake them up,” said Sara. Her children and husband were sleeping but she woke them up and alerted them to move to shelter.
Sara and her husband, Mark, waited out the storm but, when they looked outside they saw what the wind and rain had left behind.
The Eagleton’s told FOX23's Brittany Jeffers their shed was destroyed and the families’ trampoline was blown away.
“It blew stuff up on to the porch and tore up the yard but the house and cars was fine,” said Mark.
The Eagleton’s neighbor also had damage to their property. The doors of a body shop were blown away and a barn was destroyed. Scraps of metal and shards of wood now lay scattered in the field next to the two homes.
“It’s just a big mess but we were very lucky,” said Sara.
