Sales tax revenue down for the first month of the fiscal year.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett said Tuesday the City of Tulsa’s July sales tax revenue for mid-May to mid-June as reported by the Oklahoma Tax Commission is down 1.5 percent from the same period in 2012.

The sales tax disbursement was four percent below budget estimates.

“Our July sales tax disbursement is a reminder of how volatile the City’s funding source is and how we must remain prudent with budgetary decisions,” Bartlett said. “My administration continues to meet with the Finance Department to make sure the City stays within our means.”

Use tax revenues for the mid-May to mid-June period were 5.5 percent above the same period a year ago. Budget estimates were at expected levels.
