July 9, 2013 “Can You Spare An Intersection”? Tulsa lets get a really good Yale education and not forget Crossing of the Delaware. According to projections it would take roughly $31 million to fix the one-mile stretch of South Yale Ave. from 81st street to 91st street. Also, it would take roughly $18 million to fix the 5 block stretch of South Yale Ave. from 96th street to 101st street. That is a huge amount of potential funding for just one and one-half mile of roadway. Think about it, $49 million just for that portion of south Yale Ave. Over 50 per cent of the projected funding for street widening projects would be dedicated just for the above mentioned stretch of South Yale Ave. Why not give equal funding for projects in District 2? And, if not equal funding, then at least provide the necessary funding for the one project that has been over looked in District 2 for the past 15 years. It is the intersection of 101st Street and South Delaware Ave. The safety of that intersection is vital to everyone. This intersection should have been widened years ago when the Creek Turnpike and the four-lane Riverside Parkway advanced as feeders onto this tiny road. In the next 30 days or so, the city leaders of Tulsa will be formulating a list of potential projects that may be included in the Fix Our Streets package that is slated for a November, 2013 election. Please write, e-mail, and call, atten: Jeannie Cue, District 2 Councilor Tulsa, before the soon to be held next set of public meetings.   Please make sure that the widening of the intersection of 101st street and South Delaware Ave. is included as a specific project on the Fix Our Streets package that is slated for a November, 2013 election.
