Mayor Dewey Bartlett said Monday that the city IT director and Chief Information Officer, Tom Golliver, has been placed on administrative leave with pay.
City officials confirmed Golliver's leave was related to a recent website shut-down, but refused further comment, citing a personnel matter. However, TPD Captain Jonathan Brooks has been named an interim director for the city's IT department.
“Captain Brooks is a proven, experienced and successful manager with the Tulsa Police Department. He is a well-respected leader who can assist with the organizational demands of I.T. until this personnel issue is resolved,” Bartlett said. “He has vast knowledge and training in safety and security practices that will benefit I.T. as its staff maneuvers the complexities of the technical systems, networks and connections with the public.”
Another press release sent out Monday stated that the city website was not hacked, and that a technology issue involving a third-party consultant was to blame for a two-week shutdown of the city's website. The city sent thousands of letters to Tulsans costing the city about $20,000, warning residents that their personal information may have been compromised. An additional $25,000 was spent on security consulting services.
Monday, city officials confirmed the website shutdown was not a cyber attack and information was never compromised. Additional website security measures have been put in place.
