City Council delays vote on EMSA transport rate increase

The Tulsa City Council postponed a vote on a proposed EMSA transport rate increase until next week.

EMSA officials are asking the Tulsa City Council to increase transport fees from $1,100 to $1,300, the last rate increase was in 2007.  The $9 fee per mile would not be changed.

EMSA officials say the suggested increase would not impact the TotalCare fee paid on utility/water bills by members, the increase would change what EMSA charges insurance companies and individuals who are not TotalCare members.

EMSA officials say the increase is needed because costs associated with an emergency transport have gone up 18% in the five years since the last increase, that includes equipment, paramedic/EMT training, salaries and fuel costs.

The City Council has previously said they will not consider the increase until after an audit of EMSA is complete.  The City Council passed a resolution for a third party audit of EMSA in April.

Wages staying the same or going down. This Peoples Republic of Tulsa keeps going to the well and not doing anything to improve the city.I'm still mad over the money spent on the atrocity east meets west statue trying to convince themselves Oklahoma is in the mid-west when we are in the south-central portion of the country.I guess Arkansas is in New England now.I read where the guy wants $50000 more to complete it.I wish someone would throw it in the river.

Another reason I don't live in the city limits, besides not wanting to hear gun shots or sirens, or have thugs break into my house to attempt to beat me to death and take all of my belongings. City folks just don't know what they are missing out on. Oh yea, I forgot, I guess y'all like your neighbors 5 feet away from you on 3 sides of your house. :)

So not only are our utilities going up, now if you pay for EMSA on your city utility bill it is going to be even higher? I have had enough, I am going to start shopping in one of the little towns outside of Tulsa, our city government don't care one thing about the taxpayers who pay their salaries, I might have to drive a little further, but it will be worth the effort to know none of my money is going to the heartless city of Tulsa.
