Authorities said a child that taken in Texas and found in Green Country.
Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton said that the 7-year-old boy's mother did not have custody of the child but traveled with him from Hays County, Texas to Rogers County.
Stephanie Cotton was taken into custody on Wednesday and faces a fugitive from justice charge.
Walton told FOX23 that authorities are still investigating why Cotton took the child. Walton said he was alerted by Texas police that Cotton was headed to Oklahoma.
"The mother did not have custody of the child or permission to have the child," said Walton.
Cotton drove eight hours with the child and authorities had reason to believe that the child's welfare might be in jeopardy.
"We had reason to believe that the mom has a drug problem," said Walton, "We also had concern that the child might need medication and the child didn't have it.
Walton said that Cotton and the child were located at the paternal grandparents' home just north of Claremore.
DHS was called and it was determined that the child was unharmed.
Walton said that the maternal grandparents of the child have legal custody and will travel to Oklahoma to get him.
