A Tulsa couple is accused of locking their 3-year old child in a closet for six hours.
FOX23 has been searching through the couple's arrest reports to bring you what we learned about how the child was discovered.
After talking with police and looking through all the police reports FOX23 learned Darren Nashburn is accused of locking his daughter in a closet then placing a bench up against it because he says she was bothering him.
Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, police swarmed a west Tulsa apartment complex.
A maintenance worker says he entered an apartment for routine repairs.
According to a police report, he saw a bench pressed up against a downstairs closet.
When he removed the bench and opened the door inside he says he found a 3-year-old girl inside the closet.
After helping the child out, he called 911.
The father, Darren Nashburn says he was playing video games around 3 a.m. and said his daughter was throwing things so he put her in the closet as a time out.
He told police he put the bench in front of the door so she couldn't get out.
Nashburn then went to sleep leaving the child in the closet for six hours.
We spoke with a woman who lives in the complex and has children close to the age of the victims.
She couldn't believe the police report.
“That's very unacceptable, ain't no video game worth more than your child. I can say that much I know. If you feel that way you need to throw them video games out and start spending some time with your child cause that is unnecessary," said neighbor Tiffany Whiteside.
Police say three children were in the apartment ages 5, 3 and 1 years old.
All the kids were taken into custody.
Police also arrested the children's mother, Melissa Nashburn, for child abuse.
