Cherokee County Sheriff's office investigating shooting of hunter

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office is trying to find the person who shot a deer hunter on Friday evening.
They said a 27-year old hunter was shot in the arm and shoulder when exiting the woods in the Welling area of eastern Cherokee County. It happened around 6 p.m.
The victim’s father drove him to a Tahlequah hospital, the victim was then transferred to a Tulsa hospital for further treatment.
Deputies and investigators said people in the area that a red Dodge four door pickup had been seen in the area around the time of the shooting.
Investigators would like to speak with the driver and possible passengers of the pickup for information related to the shooting of the deer hunter.
CCSO deputies and investigators are investigating this incident in conjunction with game wardens of the Oklahoma Wildlife Department.
