Sweat-equity helped build another home. Habitat for Humanity partnered with KRMG, the American Red Cross and FOX23 to continue its mission:  to build a better Tulsa.

The measurement for success has been redrawn. For years, the Crutchfield Neighborhood Association, in North Tulsa has worked to make the area desirable place to live.

"Habitat is like this good virus that changes the whole energy of a neighborhood,” said FOX23 Consumer Reporter, Clark Howard.

Howard sponsored the effort, but for years, Tulsans have been scaling structures for complete strangers.

“There's not a better thing than his own home," said Martin Garcia.

That feeling is payback.

"The beauty of people power is what I love,” said Howard.

Martin’s home is one of 20 that have been built around town the last 18 months.

"I feel such a blessing and satisfaction to be able to work in this neighborhood," said Executive Director, Paul Kent. "To drive down the street where there were vacant properties."

You can see Clark Howard’s reports Monday through Friday at five, right on FOX23 News.

FOX23 would like to thank Charity Spotlight Sponsor, Tulsa Gold & Silver, for providing lunch to the volunteers.
