Charges filed in Sand Springs attempted rape

The Tulsa County district attorney filed charges against a man accused of attempted rape in Sand Springs.

Steven Ray Bowes is charged with kidnapping, robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, attempted and forcible sodomy.

Bowes is accused of attempting to rape a woman who was jogging in River City Park in Sand Springs on June 23rd.

Police said he was armed with a gun and a knife and forced her off the trail and ordered her to perform sexual acts at knifepoint. The woman was able to fight him off, stabbing his leg in the process.

Police arrested Bowes on June 28th.
