Charges filed for Rogers County death

Charges have been filed for the 2011 death of a woman in Rogers County.

Rogers County District Attorney filed first degree murder charges against Vance Dillon Wright for the 2011 murder of Kelsey Jean Bray. A mowing crew found a decomposed body along I-44 near between Catoosa and Verdigris on October 27th, 2011.  The body was later identified as Bray. 

Court records allege Wright strangled Bray sometime on October 9th in Rogers County. Records allege Bray was an escort Wright met in Tulsa and agreed to pay $600 to for her time.  Records allege Wright agreed to meet Bray and another woman to make the arrangements and then drove in a way to lose the other woman once Bray was in his truck.

Court records also allege an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and two friends of Bray saw Wright in his truck in the area near where Bray's body would later be found.  The trooper says he saw Bray with Wright at 4:30 on October 9th, but Bray's friends say they did not see Bray when they spoke to Wright at 5:30 the same day.

Records show Wright was arrested in Tennessee on October 29th for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and extradited to Oklahoma in November and questioned about Bray's death.  Wright told investigators he last saw Bray when she took the gas can and started walking down the turnpike, but also admitted he did not have the money he'd agreed to pay Bray.

If convicted Wright faces the death penalty or life in prison.
