Tulsa police say charges will be filed soon in a recent quadruple homicide at 61st and Peoria.
Deputy Police Chief Dennis Larsen tells FOX23's Sharon Phillips charges are expected to be filed in those homicides soon. "We are very confident that we know exactly what transpired there and we are getting close to the point where we will charge people, but it just takes time," Larsen said.
Rebeika Powell, Kayetie Melchor, Misty Nunley and Julie Jackson were found shot to death in an apartment at the Fairmont Terrace near 61st and Peoria on January 7th. Police have a possible person of interest, Freddie Hayes, in custody, but no charges have been filed at this time.
The district attorney requested and got a bond increase for Hayes, who is being held on other charges and warrants. "At the end of the day, when we present evidence to the district attorney, there will be good solid cases built on rock hard evidence that we feel confident will prevail in court and justice will be served," said Larsen.
Larsen also urged Tulsans to trust the police department to stay active to solve this and other crimes.
