A judge orders a delay in James “Whitey” Bulger’s trial.
Prosecutors asked for the delay saying the typical 28 day period to turn over discovery material to the defense is insufficient. They say they have thousands of hours of audio and video tapes, hundreds of photos and numerous documents to include in evidence.
Bulger’s lawyers agreed to the delay and ordered a hearing for August 31st.
Bulger, one of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, was captured June 22 in California after 16 years on the run.
He is accused of participating in 19 murders, including the 1981 death of Tulsa businessman Roger Wheeler.
