One of Tulsa's mayoral candidates got a surprise last night.
The campaign signs she placed in her front yard were gone.
Kathy Taylor was speaking to a group last night and when she got home, a neighbor pointed out her campaign signs in her front yard were missing.
FOX23 found Taylor at work at her campaign office Friday morning. Although she is now a victim of theft, she has a good sense of humor about the whole thing.
"Between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., someone decided that maybe they didn't get signs delivered to their yard and they wanted signs in their own yard, that's what I'm hoping," she said.
Just to be sure, she asked her husband if he knew anything about the missing signs. He told her the signs were there as of 8 p.m. Thursday night.
Taylor said she originally had four to five campaign signs sitting out in front of her yard.
This isn't the first time Taylor has dealt with stolen campaign signs. It happened during her first election.
"We had a lot of volunteers calling and saying that signs were disappearing from their yards," she said.
Despite her missing property, Taylor said she and her team are focused on continuing her campaign, signs or no signs.
"I don't think moving campaign signs are going to win an election Nov. 12, I think talking to voters is going to win an election," she said.
The Tulsa Police Department said if you are caught stealing campaign signs, you could face trespassing and petty larceny charges.
If the items were valued at more than $500 stealing signs could be a felony.
