Tulsa, OK- We checked in with students at Eugene Field Elementary to see what activities kids are up to during snow days.
Here's a hint- for teachers, it's all about keeping them occupied.
In preparation for Valentine's Day, Mrs. Boyer's first grade class made Valentine's Day sacks to be used at Thursday's valentine party.
It's the perfect activity for a class snowed in.
"We pretty much just stop what we're doing and talk about the weather," said teacher Jennifer Boyer.
"We play games and spend time with each other," said Zachary Turner, a student in the class. "I play with my cousins because of the snow," said another student.
In between valentines and snow journals "we talked about the freezing temperature and talked about things we did in the snow," said Boyer. "This morning we tried to count the snowflakes."
She says it's hard enough trying to keep first graders busy on a daily basis, let alone keep her kids confined to the indoors.
"They absolutely get crazy," she said. "They want to go outside and see the snow. But, because of the temperature constraints outside, we're not allowed to go."
Since they can't go out, some kids bring the craziness of the weather inside.
"One of the kids had commented that just because of the weather and we had all the snow on the ground, that they think that was one of the reasons they were misbehaving."
They seemed to be on their best behavior when we stopped in, however.
